Health

The key to living well:

Over the years our annual visitation teams have introduced the families to "Healthy Living" practices. Among other things, we have supplied each family with a Sawyer pure water filter, which eliminates 99% of the contaminants in the city water supply they receive.

Each family also receives every year a starter kit of essential First Aid items such as bandaids, alcohol wipes, antibiotic ointment, Tylenol, etc;  as well as dish washing supplies--dishpan, soap, scrub brushes and pads, soap and Clorox.

Every child in the program receives a daily multi-vitamin to supplement their diets--as well as a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste.

We have arranged for all the kids (two months to fifteen years) to receive free medical care at nearby Tim's Pediatric Clinic--including free medications for common illnesses.   We have also set up a special program at Dr Larry Molina's dental clinic so that all the kids as well as the mothers can receive basic dental care--with the requirement that they pay a modest fee for materials used in the procedures.

In addition to these measures, each family has the option of taking out a loan of $100 to $300 (from the S&L FUND) to pay for emergency medical needs as well as for chronic conditions requiring long-term medication.

By integrating these safe and sanitary habits into their daily living, the members will enjoy a healthier life.
